    Changing guidance on COVID-19

    As you may know, the federal COVID-19 emergency declaration is expected to expire no later than May 11, 2023. While we wait for an official date for the national emergency's expiration, university leaders are reviewing federal guidance and preparing for how these changes will affect students and employees across the system. We are planning to share more information at the end of April.

    The Executive Branch Ethics Act (EBEA) states that "employees, or an immediate family member, may not attempt to acquire, receive, apply for, be a party to, or have a personal or financial interest in a state grant, contract, lease, or loan if the employee may take or withhold official action that affects the award, execution, or administration of the state grant, contract, lease, or loan."

    The Board of Regents heard how the university plays a major role in Alaska's current economy and future capacity for growth. The Regents heard updates on the System's role as an economic driver, and further refined Goals and Measures to set the system up for future success and growth including a focus on UAF becoming a tier 1 research university, an emphasis on growing enrollment across the system and developing a skilled workforce for Alaska's industries.

    UA Board of Regents approves the System Office Mission Statement

    The Board of Regents formally approved a mission statement for the 探花精选 Office during its February 24 meeting. The final language reflects revisions requested by members of the board at its November meeting, and will be added to Regents' policy Chapter 01.01- Mission.
