How a passion for education shaped Brad Bodde鈥檚 career

If there was an award for adjunct professor longevity, Brad Bodde would be the clear winner. He has taught classes at the 探花精选 Anchorage for more than 80 semesters.

鈥淲orking for the university was not about money, but my way to contribute to the education of future generations to be problem solvers of the world issues,鈥 said Bodde, who taught his first class in 1985.

After retiring from his adjunct position, Bodde wanted to continue to contribute to UAA鈥檚 mission of discovering and disseminating knowledge. So in 2004, he started a new career in development work at UAA Advancement. Four years later, he transitioned to the 探花精选 Foundation.

Bodde is the systems and applications administrator for the UA Foundation. In this position, he keeps the servers functional for Foundation business. As technology has changed, he has guided the transition of the Foundation鈥檚 information from servers to the cloud. Since the cloud move, Bodde now manages system/user issue cases with the new cloud system vendors.

鈥淢y job has had many milestones, but the latest one is moving the Foundation user software systems to a cloud hosted one,鈥 said Bodde.

Bodde graduated with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in chemical engineering from the University of Idaho and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in computer science education from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is a lifelong learner who has decades of self education.
